Experienced fair executive Jeff Curtis takes the helm at Deschutes County Fair & Expo

Deschutes County welcomes Jeff Curtis, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Alaska State Fair, as the new Director of the Deschutes County Fair &amp; Expo Center. Curtis will begin his new role on Monday, Feb. 9, replacing Geoff Hinds, who left in September. He was selected from a highly competitive pool of candidates following a nationwide recruitment.

County Commissioners vote to put district map on November ballot

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) voted 2-1 to put the proposed Commissioner District Map before voters in the Nov. 3 general election. Commissioners Patti Adair and Tony DeBone voted “Yes” and Commissioner Chair Phil Chang voted “No.”If voters approve the proposal through the ballot measure process, the map would set district boundaries for a five-member board, starting in 2028.
