A public health advisory was issued Thursday due to higher-than-normal levels of bacteria in ocean waters at Nye Beach in Lincoln County. Increased pathogen and fecal bacteria levels in ocean waters can come from both shore and inland sources such as storm water runoff, sewer overflows, failing septic systems and even animal waste from livestock, pets and wildlife. SAN FRANCISCO - Officials say there is potential evidence supporting the idea that three young men may have provoked a Christmas Day tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo.The Siberian tiger somehow escaped from its enclosure and attacked the three. ORLANDO, Fla. - Saltwater from pools at two Florida marine theme parks has been seeping into groundwater underneath. State environmental records show little chance of the saltwater from SeaWorld and Discovery Cove getting into the supply of drinking water, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported. WASHINGTON - A series of air strikes southeast of Baghdad were to target al-Qaida sanctuaries in Iraq, not escalate the fighting, the U.S. Defense Department said Friday. CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - North Carolina authorities say they have learned that a pregnant U.S. Marine missing for three weeks is dead.Sheriff's deputies were looking for a grave in an Onslow County woods and have named another Marine as a suspect in the apparent death of Lance Cpl.
