TANOUT, Niger - Rebels in Niger have attacked a town, killing or abducting several people, including the town's mayor, in the biggest raid in recent months. ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - The Pakistani military Tuesday claimed its security forces killed 37 militants in clashes in the South Waziristan tribal area.The military said five government soldiers were killed in the fighting, GeoTV reported.The fighting started after the militants attacked a check post and a fort in Ladha in South Waziristan, Maj. COLOMBO, Sri Lanka - The Sri Lankan government Tuesday claimed its forces destroyed 24 Tamil Tiger bunkers in separate clashes in the northern region, killing 15 rebels.The announcement said the forces lost two of its soldiers in the fighting reported in the region's Nagarkovil, Muhamalai and Kilali districts. GAZA - Palestinian protesters and Egyptian forces clashed Tuesday at Rafah Crossing after protesters demanded the crossing be opened to ease the Gaza siege.Palestinians reported 50 women were injured in the incident with security forces, including 15 suffering gunshot wounds, Ynetnews reported.
