Police have announced that Redmond will be the focus of the next planned Multi-Agency Traffic (MAT) team enforcement detail to be held Wednesday, November 14. The City of Bend invites community members to attend a Stakeholder Sounding Board meeting on November 15. The meeting is being held to review preliminary evaluation results for design concepts to improve the intersection of Highway 97 and Cooley Road. A Tumalo-area farm-owner who thought a fire from burning yard debris two days earlier was completely extinguished was surprised when the pile reignited on Monday morning, and an ember traveled over 60-feet to set a hay shed on fire and burn over a dozen bales of hay. Although the fire was extinguished within a few minutes, over $10,000 in damage was done to a house and vehicle in northwest Bend when improperly discarded ashes from a wood stove ignited, fire officials reported. Window-breaking vandals have been at it again, this time in northeast Bend.  Police reported that a dozen vehicles were vandalized over the weekend when their windows were shot out by a small “bb-type projectile”. On Sunday morning, police discovered three vandalized vehicles, and as the day progressed, nine more reports were received.
