Mt. Bachelor has officially announced a new date for the “Ski for Schools” event – it is now slated for Friday, December 7. This is the second time the date has been changed, the first when weather conditions did not cooperate.

With Thanksgiving approaching, many families are considering how they want to prepare their turkey. To keep their holiday as safe as possible, Oregon State Fire Marshal Nancy Orr is encouraging Oregonians to skip the popular deep fat turkey fryers in favor of more traditional cooking methods. A 21-year old Madras driver who made an illegal u-turn in front of a sheriff’s deputy north of Redmond Saturday afternoon was ultimately arrested and charged with five drug offenses, authorities reported.

A 30-year old Sisters man received non-life threatening injuries when he lost control of his pickup and struck a power pole Sunday afternoon in an accident that affected traffic lights at two busy intersections in north Bend, police reported.
No charges are expected to be filed against Jeremy Todd Moyer, Bend Police Sgt. Greg Owens said. Moyer was transported by Bend Fire ground ambulance to the emergency room of St. Charles Medical Center.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office will be presenting a concealed handgun licensing class on Thursday, November 29, 2007 from 6-9:00 p.m. The class will be held in “MAC” center of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office located at 63333 West Highway 20 in Bend, Oregon.
The fee for the class is $25.00 per person.

Outdoor burning within the City of Bend will close November 22nd, Thursday evening at dark. Gary Marshall, city of Bend fire marshal said outdoor debris burning restrictions were lifted for 20 days within November to allow City residents to burn small piles of yard debris. Due to hazardous weather conditions, debris burning was cancelled for two days. Outdoor burning will continue to be open outside the City of Bend within the Deschutes County Fire District ...
