A drug raid in a northeast Bend home Tuesday afternoon turned up about 65 marijuana plants hidden behind false walls and monitored by a sophisticated video surveillance system, ultimately leading to the arrest of the resident.

A 21-year old Bend man was arrested Monday afternoon on drug and weapon charges when detectives witnessed him attempting to sell crystal methamphetamine in the parking lot of Cascade Village Shopping Center in north Bend, said authorities.

Brian Whitcomb of Bend’s Lost Tracks Golf Club was elected the 35th president of The Professional Golfers’ Association of America Saturday by delegates at the Association’s 90th Annual Meeting in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Whitcomb previously served as Secretary of the Association from 2002-2004 and Vice President from 2004-2006.
