Icy road conditions may have contributed to the cause of a single vehicle crash that sent the sole occupant to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, said Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies. The driver lost control of her pickup on a shaded and icy patch of Butler Market Road in northeast Bend late Monday morning.

One person was taken to the hospital with injuries to his arm and hand, and two others escaped harm Monday afternoon when the driver lost control of his SUV on an icy patch of road in southwest Redmond, overcorrected, rolled, crashed through a fence, where ultimately the vehicle came to rest on its side in a field, said Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies.

A Madras woman who lost control while riding a 4-wheel all terrain vehicle (ATV) in rugged terrain west of Cline Butte Sunday afternoon was injured when she fell off the vehicle and it rolled over her legs, said Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies.
Shawna Leigh Marshall-Potter, 34, and 12-weeks pregnant, was evacuated by Air Life helicopter to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with non-life threatening injuries.

Bend Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a masked man in connection with the attempted robbery of a gas station in northeast Bend Sunday night.

A Bend-area man died and another was critically injured Friday night in a single vehicle crash on Highway 22-East near Gates, about 100 miles northwest of Bend. The driver lost control of his pickup on black ice, spun around, left the highway and struck a tree, said Oregon State Police.

Central Oregon Partnerships for Youth (COPY), a program of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, is offering a class to prepare volunteers to become mentors for children with an incarcerated parent. It is estimated that, on any given day, 350 kids in Deschutes County are dealing with the disruptive effects of parental incarceration.
