Firefighters, police and public works personnel scrambled to establish an evacuation plan if one became necessary early Friday after a rail tanker carrying 28,000 gallons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) derailed in Redmond, Oregon. SALEM, Ore. -- The Marion County Homicide-Assault Response team and Oregon State Police are investigating the suspicious death of an inmate found in his cell Thursday morning. The deceased male, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family members, was an inmate at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. PHOENIX - Twenty people suspected of controlling the smuggling of illegal immigrants from Naco on the Mexican border to Phoenix were arrested Thursday.Federal, state and local agents also picked up more than 200 suspected illegal immigrants and located 13 drop houses used as stopping points for immigrants, The New York Times reported.
