Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate took a slight dip in January, with 5.2 percent last month compared with 5.4 percent in December, according to a report released today by the Oregon Employment Department. WASHINGTON - Gov. Ted Strickland believes President Bush's surge of troops into Iraq will require sending the Ohio National Guard to the war zone early next year. Fire ravaged a home in northwest Bend Monday morning, and fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze which resulted in $1.15 million in damage.  Three engine companies with 16 firefighters responded to an alarm at 19995 Destiny Court about 9 a.m. February 26, Bend Fire Battalion Chief Dave Howe reported.  Destiny Court is located just north of the Old Bend-Redmond Highway off O.B.
