LAHORE, Pakistan - At least seven people, including six police officers, died during an attack Tuesday on the Sri Lankan soccer team in Pakistan for a competition. URBANA, Ill. - Health officials speculate a midwife could be the source of a human placenta that recently turned up at an Illinois wastewater treatment plant. TOKYO - Japan is preparing to become the first country to deploy a ship-based, long-range missile defense system as North Korea apparently readies a missile test. TOLEDO, Ohio - Environmental groups say that an Ohio power plant kills millions of fish every year by drawing in water from the Maumee River for cooling. MEDFORD, Ore. - Authorities in Oregon said an arsonist appears to be targeting green Ford Escorts, with three of the vehicles going up in flames during the past month. WARSAW, Poland - Financially troubled German car parts supplier Schaeffler may have been more involved in the Third Reich than once thought, a Polish researcher said.
