Fourteen people were transported to five different hospitals last night after they became ill while in or near the swimming pool at the Embassy Suites near the Portland airport, authorities reported. A woman who apparently intentionally jumped into the Willamette River from the Marion Street Bridge in downtown Salem last night was rescued after being in the water for 45 minutes, authorities said. Drivers crossing the bridge saw the woman jump and called 911 about 10:20 p.m., Saturday, April 14.
