One of the four suspected arson cases in Bend during the last nine days was solved when a juvenile was cited by Bend Police for reckless burning in connection with a brush fire in a vacant lot in northeast Bend on March 26, officials reported.

The Bend City Council announced today the unanimous appointment of Peter Gramlich to fill the vacancy left by John Hummel, who resigned last month
Thirteen interested parties applied for the vacant position by the set deadline of March 21, and council members on Tuesday of last week narrowed the list to six candidates.
Those six were interviewed prior to the council’s vote today.

Two Prineville teenagers were taken into custody Saturday following an investigation of criminal mischief near Wildcat Campground in the Ochoco National Forest, accused of shooting a number of signs and causing $800 in damage, Crook County Sheriff’s deputies reported.

A new multi-agency traffic team (MAT) comprised of four law enforcement agencies within Deschutes County will begin April 11 with enhanced and saturated enforcement of traffic laws on the Bend Parkway, authorities reported.
