Prineville Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the vandals responsible for breaking 16 car windows with rocks in the northeast part of town early Saturday morning. The latest rash of vandalism follows several incidents of slashed tires about a week earlier.

The Bend city council and an advocacy group representing eight plaintiffs who filed a federal lawsuit against the city in December 2006 alleging the city’s bus stops violated transit regulations stipulated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will meet Wednesday to settle the issue.

Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.1 percent in April compared with 5.2 percent in March. The April unemployment rate was the lowest since December 2000, when the rate was also 5.1 percent. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.5 percent in April and 4.4 percent in March. SEATTLE - The Salvation Army and Greenpeace have reportedly reached a settlement in a dispute over the estate of a Seattle man who left his fortune to charity.

WASHINGTON - Forty-eight police officers were killed in attacks while on duty in 2006 in the United States, seven fewer than the previous year, the FBI said Monday.
Forty-six of the officers were killed with guns. Two were killed with vehicles, the FBI said. Twelve of the officers were killed during arrests, and nine of them were ambushed, the FBI said as it released a report of preliminary statistics.
