Prineville Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the vandals responsible for breaking 16 car windows with rocks in the northeast part of town early Saturday morning. The Bend city council and an advocacy group representing eight plaintiffs who filed a federal lawsuit against the city in December 2006 alleging the city’s bus stops violated transit regulations stipulated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will meet Wednesday to settle the issue. Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.1 percent in April compared with 5.2 percent in March. The April unemployment rate was the lowest since December 2000, when the rate was also 5.1 percent. BERGEN, Norway - Authorities in Norway plan to close the Bomlafjord Tunnel to repair Europe's longest undersea traffic tunnel after a recent rock fall. The monthlong closure this summer of the 4.7-mile tunnel comes after the most recent structural failure in one of Norway's numerous traffic tunnels, Aftenposten reported Monday. SEATTLE - The Salvation Army and Greenpeace have reportedly reached a settlement in a dispute over the estate of a Seattle man who left his fortune to charity. ROME - An American soldier accused in Italy of killing a secret agent in Iraq said mobile phone video he shot exonerates him. Mario Luis Lozano, who is being tried in absentia in Rome, is charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder in a March 4, 2005, checkpoint shooting in Iraq. SOFIA, Bulgaria - Police said a 45-year-old Bulgarian soccer club chairman was killed in a residential district of Sofia, media reported Monday. Alexander Tasev, who had been shot twice in the head, was found Monday morning. WASHINGTON - Forty-eight police officers were killed in attacks while on duty in 2006 in the United States, seven fewer than the previous year, the FBI said Monday. Forty-six of the officers were killed with guns. Two were killed with vehicles, the FBI said.
