WASHINGTON - The U.S. Senate rejected an amendment Tuesday that would have removed the guest-worker program from a comprehensive immigration reform bill.
The amendment sponsored by Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Byron Dorgan, D-N.C., failed 64-31, Fox News reported. Many Democrats joined Republicans in opposition to eliminating the provision to give two-year visas to 400,000 low-wage temporary workers.

PALA, Calif. - A 65-year-old golfer was killed Tuesday morning when he drove his golf cart over a rocky cliff and plunged some 75 feet to his death.
The man, who was from Irvine, Calif., and had recently retired, was golfing at the Pala Mesa Golf Resort in north San Diego County with three other friends when the accident happened around 10 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Kerns.

DALLAS - Prosecutor-turned-crime writer Vincent Bugliosi says he has debunked every conspiracy theory on the Kennedy assassination in Dallas.

MINNEAPOLIS - Twenty-five suspects have been arrested for allegedly forcing foreign women into sex slavery at brothels in Minnesota.
Authorities in Minneapolis said the suspects allegedly operated eight brothels in Minneapolis, West St. Paul and Richfield in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, as well as in Austin, the St. Paul Pioneer Press said.
