WASHINGTON - The U.S. Senate rejected an amendment Tuesday that would have removed the guest-worker program from a comprehensive immigration reform bill. The amendment sponsored by Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Byron Dorgan, D-N.C., failed 64-31, Fox News reported. PALA, Calif. - A 65-year-old golfer was killed Tuesday morning when he drove his golf cart over a rocky cliff and plunged some 75 feet to his death. LYNCHBURG, Va. - A student at the Virginia University founded by the Rev. Jerry Falwell was arrested the night before Falwell's funeral for allegedly possessing five bombs. Mark D. WASHINGTON - The United States plans to send more military equipment to Lebanon to help the army in its fight against a militant Islamist group, it was reported Tuesday. MINNEAPOLIS - Twenty-five suspects have been arrested for allegedly forcing foreign women into sex slavery at brothels in Minnesota. NEW YORK - All yellow cabs in New York City will be fuel-efficient hybrids within five years, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Tuesday.
