SAGINAW, Mich. - Five children, ages 1- to 13-years-old and a man died Thursday when fire swept a house in Saginaw, Mich. Saginaw interim Fire Chief Lathel Wise said that firefighters braved flames to rescue the victims, who were pronounced dead at a local hospital, The Detroit News reported. DES MOINES, Iowa - Several inches of rain fell on parts of the U.S. Midwest, flooding some highways early Thursday. The National Weather Service posted flash flood watches for 27 counties from Minnesota to Missouri and flood warnings for some counties in Iowa and Kansas. TORONTO - A Toronto high school student was shot and later died from his wounds inside the school and police say they do not yet have a suspect. Jordan Manners, 15, was shot inside C.W. Jefferys Collegiate high school Wednesday and was taken to a city hospital where he died from his injuries, The Toronto Star reported Thursday. MOSCOW - All the miners in a Russian coal mine where methane gas exploded Thursday morning have been accounted for, with 38 dead and seven injured. BEND, Ore. — The winds shifted out of the south and southwest at approximately two o’clock Wednesday morning, causing heavy smoke from Tuesday’s “Fuzzy” controlled burns to settle into the Sundance Subdivision and Horse Butte area southeast of Bend. Murder-suicide hasn't been ruled out, police say A neighbor who was investigating the sound of gunshots found a 73-year old La Pine-area man dead in the driveway of his mobile home late Tuesday afternoon, and police later discovered a woman and dog, also dead of gunshots inside the single-wide trailer.
