MEDFORD, Ore. – Late last week, brothers Jeffrey Allen Davis, 54, and Richard Orlend Davis, 48, were sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Ann Aiken to ten years in federal prison for manufacturing marijuana and possession of a destructive device. Cynthia Jean Davis, 49, wife of Jeffrey Allen Davis, was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for conspiracy to manufacture marijuana.

State, county and local emergency responders in Oregon and Idaho were busy this weekend investigating several motorcycle-involved crashes, some serious, on area highways during the Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally based in Baker City, Oregon. Oregon State Police (OSP) Lieutenant David MacManiman reported that at least nine motorcycle crashes happened late Friday into Saturday evening. Oregon State Police detectives are continuing the investigation into the death of an Oregon State University faculty member who became ill while inside her vehicle on the campus Sunday afternoon and later died at a Corvallis hospital. An autopsy and toxicology tests will be pending to help confirm the cause and manner of death.

A 66-year old bicyclist was hit and killed by a vehicle that struck one of five riders in Washington County, Oregon on Saturday afternoon, deputies reported. The driver was cited for careless driving, passing in a “no passing” zone, and driving with a suspended license.

Deputies believe that speeding may have contributed to the deaths of three people involved in a single-vehicle crash in Sandy, Oregon early Saturday morning.

Police have arrested the man they suspect in the vicious attempted axe murder of a Clackamas man last Wednesday.
Geovany Mendoza Saucedo, 23, was arrested Friday in Yakima, Washington and is being held without bail on an attempted murder warrant out of Clackamas County. Detectives investigating the case report Saucedo has a drug history with misdemeanor offenses.

Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies raided a Colton, Oregon home on Friday and arrested a woman accused of seriously neglecting her four horses, one of which has died.
According to a news release, April Punley had been investigated four previous times by the sheriff’s office for possible animal neglect.
