Police have arrested the former owner of Park and Sell RV, a consignment lot operating for about one year in Redmond during 2005, for allegedly selling recreational vehicles and failing to pay at least five owners the sale proceeds, police announced Tuesday.

PITTSBURGH - Five children from two families died early Tuesday in a house fire in Pittsburgh.
Investigators were seeking a teenager who was reportedly babysitting the children, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The girl disappeared and her boyfriend, who may also have been in the house at the time of the fire, was also missing.

SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon House of Representatives today unanimously approved a K-12 education budget that designates $6.245 billion for public education in the next biennium. Funding for public education in the 2007-09 biennium will increase by 18 percent over 2005-07 levels with the budget approved by the House today.

Bend Fire personnel, Redmond HazMat team members, and a utility crew responded to a possible hazardous materials incident at a local dental office on Saturday when occupants reported headaches and difficulty in breathing, officials reported.

A small fire reported by a neighbor of a Deschutes River Woods homeowner sounded a warning early enough to allow the residents to extinguish the blaze -- later traced to an improperly discarded cigarette -- before firefighters arrived Sunday night, officials reported.
