SAN JOSE, Calif. - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said immigrants looking to learn English should stop watching Spanish-speaking media. He told hundreds of Latino journalists at a news conference that it would be easier to learn English if immigrants cut back on their native languages, The Sacramento Bee reported Friday. MOGADISHU, Somalia - Explosions just minutes apart Friday in Somalia's capital of Mogadishu prompted authorities to cordon off part of the city to search for suspects. Authorities said two of the blasts were caused by roadside bombs aimed at Somali government forces and their Ethiopian allies, The Shabelle Media Network reported. LONDON - Seven people convicted in Britain of plotting terrorist attacks on both sides of the Atlantic were sentenced Friday to up to 26 years in prison. The seven were recruited by Dhiren Barot, a Hindu convert to Islam who received a minimum 30-year sentence last year, The Telegraph reported. FORT PROVIDENCE, Northwest Territories - A former Fort Providence, Canada, teacher was given a 14-month prison sentence after being convicted of having sex with three underage students. The girls that Marvin Lizotte, 36, reportedly had sex with were between the ages of 14 and 16 at the time, CBC reported Friday. LISBON, Portugal - The parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann said authorities may never find their 4-year-old daughter. The parent's concession was the first time the couple publicly admitted that their daughter may never been seen again, The Times of London reported Friday. LONDON - A report on player transfers in England's Premier League alleges irregularities involving five soccer clubs. John Stevens, a former Metropolitan police chief who heads Quest, an investigative company, found no evidence of illegal payments, The Telegraph reported. MINNEAPOLIS - Two of the sextuplets born premature and underweight last weekend to a Minneapolis couple have died and the remaining four are struggling for life. SAN DIEGO - A banker has admitted he financed a home for former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-Calif., to maintain a relationship with him. The admission came in a plea unsealed this week, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Friday. Thomas Kontogiannis of New York pleaded guilty in February, but the plea was sealed. BUFFALO, N.Y. - A boy brought a packet of heroin to a Buffalo, N.Y., daycare center and gave some of the drug to other children, apparently thinking it was candy. Three children at the YWCA Schoolhouse Commons tested positive for the drug, The Buffalo News reported. All were treated and released. MOSCOW - The Russian Federal Security Service has begun an investigation into British intelligence activities, officials announced Friday. The probe follows allegations by businessman Andrei Lugovoi that Alexander Litvinenko, the former KGB agent poisoned with polonium in London, and exiled tycoon Boris Berezovsky had been recruited by MI6, Novosti reported.
