The Crook County Sheriff’s Office announced today the arrest of a 16-year-old boy who is accused of raping and sodomizing a girl under the age of 12.
According to Detective Sergeant Travis Jurgens, the boy was taken into custody on Sunday night shortly after 10:30 p.m. following an investigation into allegations that he assaulted a Prineville girl.

A fire that investigators believe began when a 16-year-old Prineville juvenile was lighting fireworks from atop the Ochoco Viewpoint west of Prineville on Saturday spread to one-acre before it was contained.
Emergency personnel from Crook County Fire and Rescue and the sheriff’s office could see the fire from as far away as Prineville when they responded to the area off Highway 126 about 9:40 p.m., June 30, Sgt. Russ Wright reported.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in locating a 12-year-old Garden Home boy, missing since early Monday morning.
Jesse BarrThe boy’s father said Jesse Michael Barr left his home with his skateboard and backpack. According to a news release, the child was wearing a blue hoody and black Vans skate sneakers. He is described as 5-foot 5-inches tall weighing 100 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

WASHINGTON - A federal judge in Washington Monday sentenced a top female leader of a Colombian rebel group to nearly 17 years in prison for cocaine trafficking.
Nayibe Rojas Valderrama, also known as "Sonia," was handed a 200-month sentence by U.S. District Judge James Robertson, the U.S. Attorney's office said in a news release. NEOLA, Utah - A wildfire in northeastern Utah, fueled by hot, dry weather and gusty winds, was only 10 percent contained Tuesday after burning about 35,000 acres.

WASHINGTON - U.S. President George Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a statement Tuesday in Washington agreeing to increased cooperation on nuclear issues.
A White House statement said the two leaders had agreed "to initiate a new format for enhanced cooperation" that would strengthen the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
