For the second consecutive fiscal year, the Oregon Lottery recorded over $1 billion in sales. With the close of fiscal year 2007 on June 30, unaudited results indicate the Lottery saw all-time record sales of $1.21 billion. As a result of these sales, an all-time high of $604 million of Lottery profits were transferred to the State for public education, economic development, state parks, and natural resources this fiscal year. A 45-year old Bend man -- with a blood alcohol content allegedly more than three times the legal limit -- sped off during a traffic stop by a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy in a 21-foot motorhome and led police on an 11-mile pursuit before stopping when half the RV’s tires were punctured with spike strips. WARSAW, Poland -- Polish border guards detained 30 illegal migrants after the guards stopped a Lithuanian truck at the border with Germany, Polish Radio said Thursday. Lt. Col. BERLIN -- Commuter train engineers in Berlin and Hamburg staged a two-hour strike Thursday morning, delaying and frustrating millions of commuters. The action came after 8,000 members of Germany's GDL train drivers union voted Monday overwhelmingly to strike for a 31 percent pay raise, Deutsche Welle reported. JAKARTA -- A civil trial to recover $1.5 billion from former Indonesian President Suharto began in Jakarta on Thursday and adjourned for a month. Suharto, 86, was not present when 20 minutes into the hearing, the judge ordered both sides to seek a deal and report back in a month, a BBC correspondent reported.
