Local cabinet store break ground on new showroom
by Bend Weekly News Sources

BEND, Ore. – HMI, parent company of Brian’s Cabinets and Evergreen Cabinets and Closets, announced today that it has begun construction on a new, 10,000 square foot building that will house state-of-the-art showrooms for both of its cabinet lines as well as its service center. The Company expects the showrooms to be open to the public in the first quarter of 2008.

“Our business has grown and so has the need for additional space to showcase both our custom cabinet offering as well as our new modular product line,” said HMI General Manager Mark Kramer. “The new building will include 3,500 square feet of showroom space where we can display a wide variety of our offerings from full kitchens, baths and entertainment centers to utility room, craft room and garage scenarios. I firmly believe that ours will be the most complete and creative storage solution demonstration to be found anywhere in the state.”

HMI broke ground on the new facility, which will be located in Northeast Bend at 18th and Brinson, in late April. Designed by highly regarded Bend architect Neil Houston, construction is being handled by CS Construction, also of Bend.

“In addition to the broad selection, the showroom will feature access to the region’s largest staff of highly qualified and experienced designers,” Kramer said. “Our staff includes designers with specialized experience in custom and modular storage solutions for the entire home. We’re committed to providing the highest level of service in the region.”

HMI plans to continually rotate its displays to keep the showroom fresh and to showcase the latest trends in home storage solutions.

“It will be more like an Ikea experience than a traditional cabinet showroom,” Kramer continued. “We want to highlight the full breadth of our capabilities, including our practical green solutions, and provide homeowners and builders with an experience that will inform and inspire them.”

All manufacturing of Brian’s Cabinets and Evergreen Cabinets and Closets will continue to be located in the Company’s production facility on American Loop in Bend. Moving the showroom and service center out of the current facility and into the new building will allow the Company additional room that it needs to continue to expand its production capabilities. The Company’s current showroom and offices will remain open as usual until the move next year.

Brian’s Cabinets and Evergreen Cabinets and Closets are locally owned and operated by Hakala Manufacturing Incorporated, HMI. CCB #: 155210.
