Company seeks to fill 1,000 Positions for the 2007 Season
Grand Teton National Park, WYO. – Grand Teton Lodge Company is looking for individuals with a passion for the outdoors who want to spend the summer working in the shadow of the breathtaking Teton Mountain Range. The Grand Teton National Park concessioner, which operates numerous lodging properties, restaurants, tours and activities within the Park, is currently accepting applications for its 2007 season, which runs from May 17 through October 7.
The unique employment opportunities at Grand Teton Lodge Company have historically attracted a patchwork of personalities with diverse backgrounds and experiences from across the country and around the world. This has included high school graduates and college students as well as retirees, many of whom return year after year.
“I began working for Grand Teton Lodge Company one summer during the three months I had off from teaching,” said Ray Dillard of Des Moines, Iowa. “I worked in the gift shop that summer and had one of the best times of my life. I‘ve been back every year since.” Dillard, who has since retired from teaching and now manages the newsstand at Jackson Lake Lodge, will celebrate his 50th year of employment with GTLC this summer.
With a large variety of positions still available, ranging from kitchen staff and servers to retail clerks and golf course maintenance, the Company seeks to fill more than 1,000 jobs in areas including retail, food and beverage services, engineering, accounting and more. Employment is available from three weeks prior to season opening to three weeks after season end, although Grand Teton Lodge Company will hire continuously throughout the five-month season.
Each season, employees at Grand Teton Lodge Company go through intensive training to help them understand the extensive nature of the Company’s environmental commitment and the simple actions they can take to protect and preserve the natural resources of Grand Teton National Park. The Company’s goal is to simplify the facts and provide effective learning tools for employees so they can not only practice these eco-friendly alternatives, but also extend them to guests.
“Simply by setting examples of how to minimize trail impacts or how to properly view wildlife, employees can help elevate and enhance the environmental consciousness of our guests,” said Bob O’Neil, director of human resources for Grand Teton Lodge Company. “Our employees take great pride in their role in the education process and look forward to sharing their knowledge with guests in their day-to-day interactions.”
All seasonal employees receive complimentary housing, and for a fee of $57 a week are provided with meals, linens and laundry facilities. Additionally, they can participate in all the guest activities free of charge on a space-available basis, and receive discounts in the company-operated gift shops as well as retail stores and restaurants in the town of Jackson Hole.
