Redmond Police announced yesterday that two arrests were made in connection with graffiti at the Redmond High School, Hugh Hartman Campus, and most recently the Albertson’s supermarket.
Ivan Jesus Gomez, 19, and a 15-year-old boy were issued citations and released from custody, Captain Brian McNaughton reported. “Patrol Officers from Redmond PD identified a suspect in the Albertson’s case and their investigation revealed that the suspect was also involved in the high school vandalism,” said the captain.
According to a news release prepared by Redmond School District Communication Officer, Stephanie Curtis, “Information regarding the incident was received from multiple students regarding possible suspects. School Resource Officers Lance Simonds and Craig Unger worked in conjunction with Dean of Students Tom Yahraes to investigate these leads. The information yielded a discovery of evidence which led to the arrest of the two individuals – one a current RHS student. Under school and district policy, the RHS student has been suspended pending an expulsion hearing.”
The school district plans to reward the $500 offered leading to the arrest of those involved to confidential sources that provided information, Curtis said.
Gomzez, identified by police as a transient, was cited for first-degree criminal mischief in connection with the school case, and second-degree criminal mischief for the Albertson’s case.
The juvenile was cited for first-degree criminal mischief in connection with the school case, McNaughton reported.
