Concentrating mainly in the Northwest area within the city limits of Redmond, Oregon, vandals damaged the windows of over two-dozen vehicles late Sunday night and early Monday morning, police reported.
Redmond Police received the first report about 3 a.m., January 14, Sgt. Cory Chase said. A victim whose car window was shot -- most likely by a bb or pellet-type gun -- said they saw a silver passenger car of unknown make or model, but perhaps similar to a Volkswagen Jetta, leaving the scene near SW Highland Avenue and SW Indian Avenue.
Soon after, another victim’s vehicle suffered the same fate, this time near NW 9th Street and NW Maple Avenue. They, too, reported seeing a silver passenger car leaving the area, Chase said.
Responding officers discovered numerous vehicles throughout the city, and as of about 5:30 a.m. Monday, a total of 29 damaged vehicles were found. The sergeant estimated damage to those vehicles at bout $6,000.
The investigation is continuing, Sgt. Chase said, and asked anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Redmond Police Department through the non-emergency dispatch number of (541) 693-6911.
