Police arrested a 24-year old Redmond man Thursday night and charged him with over 30 crimes in connection with an incident where he allegedly entered a manufactured home and brandished a gun at the occupants.

Redmond Police responded to the report of a home intrusion with a firearm about 9:20 p.m., January 16, and set up a perimeter when they arrived at Space 48, 1201 SW 28th Street while the suspect was on scene, Officer Keith Knight said.  The man, later identified as Jeffery Scott Magnus, left on foot as officers approached.

Officers checked the home, found all occupants to be safe, and conducted interviews which led to information about the suspect.

Magnus, a 24-year old Redmond resident, was located a short while later at the McDonald’s restaurant on SW Highland Avenue, Knight said.  Officers herded the employees of the fast food chain into a safe area and waited until the suspect was alone in the lobby, where they made contact.

Witnesses positively identified Magnus as the intruder with the firearm, and he was taken into custody and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail.  Charges against him include first-degree burglary; and eight counts each of menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and pointing a firearm at another.

He was also being held on an outstanding warrant, police said.
