PRINEVILLE, Ore. – A 15-year-old Prineville boy was arrested Thursday night outside the public library when he allegedly sold an ounce of cocaine to undercover detectives posing as drug users, authorities reported.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sgt. Mitchell Meyer, working in consort with the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement (CODE) team, detectives developed information earlier in the day from a separate drug investigation that led them to believe a drug deal was scheduled in Prineville.

CODE intercepted telephone calls and arranged for a cocaine purchase from an unidentified source, the sergeant said.  A Hispanic teenager contacted the undercover detectives as they waited, after-hours, in the library parking lot, and was taken into custody after he delivered the cocaine, Sgt. Meyer said. An ounce of cocaine has an estimated street value of $2,300.

The suspect was turned over to authorities with the Crook County Juvenile Department, and was charged with possession, delivery, and manufacture of a controlled substance.
