Redmond men arrested in eBay theft ring
by Cheryl McDermott

REDMOND, Ore. -- Two Redmond men were arrested and more arrests are pending in multiple thefts, burglaries and car break-ins from businesses, residents and construction sites throughout Bend and Redmond, police announced Tuesday. The stolen items, 270 that were recovered, were then being sold through eBay, an online auction web site.

A search warrant was served February 22 at the apartment of 35-year old Jason Vickers, in Unit 8 at 239 SW 12th Street, Redmond Police Captain Dave Tarbet said. When the 270 items of evidence were discovered, a subsequent follow-up investigation led officers to an additional suspect, Brian Fee, 42.

Officers believe that Vickers and Fee were involved in stealing and selling the stolen property on eBay. So far, some of the victims identified include Fred Meyer and Safeway stores in both cities, Bi-Mart and Albertsons in Redmond, and Wild Oats Market in Bend.

Vickers was arrested Friday and charged with first- and second-degree buglary; first- and second-degree theft; unlawful entry into a motor vehicle; first-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree criminal mischief, Tarbet said.

Fee, arrested Saturday, was charged with first-degree theft by receiving and second-degree criminal mischief.

Both men were lodged in the Deschutes County Jail, and more arrests are pending in the ongoing investigation, the captain reported.
