LA PINE, Ore. -- Deputies have released few details in connection with a shooting in La Pine, Oregon, Thursday night that left one person dead and two injured.
Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 16054 Burgess Road in La Pine shortly after 9 p.m., April 3, to a report of gunshots, Captain Marc Mills said in a news release. While on their way, another 911 call was received from a victim who ran to a neighbor’s home to report they had been shot.
The first victim was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with reportedly life-threatening injuries, Mills said, as was a second victim found in the home where the shooting occurred. Both victims had injuries from apparent gunshot wounds.
A third person, unidentified at the time of the news release, was found dead in the home, “deceased from an apparent gunshot wound(s)”, the captain reported.
Sheriff’s detectives are continuing the investigation to positively identify the deceased person, establish a motive, and determine the roles of any and all suspect or victims, Captain Mills said. “Efforts are still being made to contact family members” of all persons involved, he stated.
