PRINEVILLE, Ore. – Police are looking for a masked man armed with a knife who broke into a northeast Prineville home occupied by a woman and child late Thursday night. The victims were able to flee the home and call for help, authorities reported.
Prineville police officers responded to a reported home invasion at a residence on NE Mahogany Street in the Northridge area just before midnight, May 8, Chief Eric Bush stated in a news release.
The victim told police she and her child were awakened by a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a knife, who ordered them to remain in one room. The woman and child fled the house and called police.
Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect, who was described as being in his teens or 20s, about 5-feet 5-inches tall with a thin build, a news release stated.
“Nothing appears to have been stolen or damaged,” Chief Bush said.
The incident remains under investigation, and Bush urged anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact police at 541.447.4168.
