POWELL BUTTE, Ore. – An ongoing investigation and a search warrant execution at a Powell Butte residence Saturday afternoon led to the seizure of 12 horses and their caretaker being cited for a dozen charges of animal neglect, deputies reported.
According to Crook County Sheriff’s Sgt. James C. Savage, Robert Albring Jr., 35, was cited for a single count of first-degree animal abuse, and 11 counts of second-degree animal abuse.
Two of the horses seized about 1:45 p.m., March 28, from 12340 SW Highway 126 were taken to Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic for immediate care, Sgt. Savage said, while the other ten were transported to the Crook County Fairgrounds to be cared for.
Deputies were assisted by about 25 volunteers from Crook County Search and Rescue, the sergeant stated in a news release.
