by Bend Weekly News Sources

REDMOND, Ore. – Redmond Police on Tuesday arrested a 22-year old Crooked River Ranch man who had allegedly been impersonating a doctor, administering medication, and performing medical procedures including minor surgery on several people throughout Central Oregon. The suspect -- whom police say has no formal medical training -- was charged with more than two dozen crimes including assault, identity theft, sexual abuse, drug charges and more.

Scott E. Hanson first came under scrutiny on Saturday, when an investigation began. Redmond Police Detective Sgt. Cory Chase said Hanson's home in Crooked River Ranch was raided by police and Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies on April 28. Various medical supplies and other evidence related to the investigation were seized, Chase reported.

Hanson was placed under arrest and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail where his bail was initially set at $150,000. He faces six counts each of identity theft and recklessly endangering another person; two counts each of second-degree and third-degree theft; and single counts of second-degree assault, second-degree forgery, tampering with drug records, third-degree sex abuse, sexual harassment, possession and delivery of a Schedule-1 controlled substance, and possession and delivery of a Schedule-4 controlled substance.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Redmond Police at 541.504.3400.
