CRR raid leads to one arrest, seizure of 51 pot plants
by Cheryl McDermott

A drug raid on a Crooked River Ranch home and outbuildings in Jefferson County on Tuesday night -- the second search warrant execution by the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement (CODE) team in six hours -- culminated in the arrest of a 35-year old man accused of running a sophisticated marijuana operation utilizing both hydroponic and soil growing systems and the seizure of plants that would have produced an estimated $71,000 of pot.

According to Deschutes County Sheriff’s Detective Scott Shelton, working with CODE, over the course of the last year detectives received credible information that Anthony L. Cooper of 7450 Nighthawk Lane in Crooked River Ranch was involved in the manufacturing and sale of marijuana.

Surveillance allowed detectives to gather information sufficient to receive a search warrant for the address, and at 9 p.m. on May 15, the location was raided by drug agents.

A large unattached building was converted into the growing operation, and included two rooms with plants at various stages of growth, Shelton said.  The electrical systems within the building had been altered and converted, and an elaborate air filtration system was developed in an effort to conceal the odor produced from the growing marijuana.

Detectives seized over 50 plants and four pounds of dried marijuana, the sergeant reported.

Cooper was taken into custody and lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.  He is charged with possession, delivery, and manufacture of marijuana.
