La Pine to get new health clinic
by Bend Weekly News Sources

Congressman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) recently announced that Ochoco Health Systems has been awarded a $608,333 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to establish a new health clinic in La Pine, Oregon. Congressman Walden strongly supported Ochoco's efforts to secure the grant from DHHS' Health Center Program and wrote to the Department on Ochoco's behalf in December. Walden has supported a number of Ochoco projects over the years, including the recently-opened community clinic in Prineville and its operations in Bend and Madras.

“By partnering with La Pine Community Clinic, this new endeavor will surely boost access to quality health care services for La Pine, a medically underserved area with growing health care needs,” Congressman Walden said. “I have seen in person time and again how the professionals at Ochoco clinics in Bend, Prineville and Madras do tremendous work for their communities. This is great news for the La Pine community.”

This latest grant brings the total amount of federal dollars Congressman Walden has helped secure for Ochoco clinics in Central Oregon — which are Federally Qualified Health Centers — to approximately $2.7 million.

“Ochoco Health Systems is extremely pleased to have received this grant to serve the citizens of LaPine, and we look forward to working with the community to establish services there,” said Ochoco Executive Director Lynn Martin. “We also thank Congressman Walden for all of his help in obtaining these funds and for his ongoing support of our organization. He has been wonderful.”
