Investigation determined that earlier in the day the suspect, Kenneth Keys, 45, of Redmond, had a verbal altercation with his supervisor. Keys “re-approached” the victim, 30-year old Joseph Andrew Post, also of Redmond, carrying a sledgehammer, the sergeant said. Keys allegedly hit Post in the back with the weapon, then was restrained by another worker who took the sledgehammer from him. He left the jobsite on foot, Davis reported.
Post was treated then released from St. Charles Medical Center in Redmond for injuries sustained in the attack.
Keys was later taken into custody and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail with bail set at $55,000. According to a news release, he is charged with second-degree assault (a Class B felony), and unlawful use of a weapon (a Class C felony).
