Severe weather alert: 55-mph winds possible
by Bend Weekly News Sources

Severe weather with wind gusts to 55-mph is possible this evening in the Central Oregon area including Bend, La Pine, Prineville, Redmond, John Day, Monument, and Dayville.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather alert which remains in effect until 10 p.m. Monday.

According to the alert, winds will increase this evening as a cold front sweeps across eastern Washington and eastern Oregon, with south to southwest winds of 30-40 mph and gusts to 50-mph expected.  Local gusts to 55-mph are possible, NWS stated.

“Winds of these magnitudes can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles” the alert warned. “Minor property damage may also occur.”

In addition to high winds, up to one inch of snow may fall.  Rain and snow showers this evening are expected to turn to all snow overnight, with a low temperature of 32 degrees.  Chance of precipitation is estimated at 70%.
