A 20-year old Bend man was arrested late Monday night in connection with a bloody attack with an “edged-type” weapon that sent his roommate to the hospital, police reported.

Bend Police Sgt. Ron Taylor said officers were called to the Country Terrace Apartments on SE Brosterhous Road about 11:30 p.m., November 19, to the report of a bleeding man who had allegedly been involved in a fight.

Officers spoke to the victim, 32-year old Jack T. Lewis, inside apartment A-2, which he shares with the man police later arrested.

Lewis, bleeding from a deep cut on his upper back and additional cuts on his face and head, was uncooperative, Sgt. Taylor said.  “Alcohol or other controlled substances could have been a factor,” he added.

The victim was transported by Bend Fire paramedics to St. Charles Medical Center with reportedly non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation pointed to Daniel Robin Paul Keller, 20, as the only suspect, said Taylor.  Keller was arrested without incident in the apartment complex’s parking lot about an hour and fifteen minutes later, the sergeant said.  He was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail with bail set at $105,000, and was charged with first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
