Nov 07,2006 Employee One of Three Arrested in Subway Robbery by Richard Burton
An employee who originally claimed to be a victim of an armed robbery at Subway South in Bend was eventually arrested along with two co-conspirators in connection with the crime, said police.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 19-year old Subway employee Jalena Trent reported that two men had robbed the store after one of the suspects forced a 16-year old male employee to the floor at the back of the store.Trent said that the other robber then took an undisclosed amount of cash from her at knifepoint. The two suspects fled the scene following the incident, according to a news release issued by the Bend Police Department.
Detectives responded to the scene and a “very time intensive” investigation revealed that Trent had allegedly conspired with two brothers, Derrek Finnell and Casey Finnell, ages 21 and 20, to commit the robbery.Detectives placed her under arrest in connection with the crime, according to the release.
The following day officers seized evidence of the crime during execution of a search warrant at the Finnell residence, an apartment at 2020 NE Linnea.
The Finnells were later found at the Cascade Lodge Motel on Southeast Third Street, and were arrested without incident in the parking lot by Bend Police detectives, Bend patrol officers, and detectives from the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team.
All three suspects were lodged at the Deschutes County Jail.
Trent will face charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, first-degree theft, and conspiracy to commit first-degree theft.
Derrek Finnell and Casey Finnell will both face those same charges, plus additional charges of first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit first-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, and conspiracy to commit unlawful use of a weapon.
