As of November 16, the 2006-07 United Way of Deschutes County (UWDC) Annual Campaign has raised $754,635, 52% of the goal. The campaign kicked off in mid-September with a $1,450,000 goal to help support 34 local health & human service programs in the county. Money is raised by reaching out to our community through presentations in the workplace, small businesses and individuals.
“The generosity of this community is astounding,” said Cyndy Cook, Volunteer Campaign Chair and Executive Director for Housing Works. “This is a milestone for our campaign but we still have over $695,365 local programs in our area.”
Members of the community are encouraged to help United Way reach its goal by calling the United Way office, pledging online or holding an employee campaign at your workplace. Small employers are especially encouraged to hold workplace campaigns to allow their employees the opportunity to give back to our community.
Those interested in following United Way’s progress can monitor local giving by visiting the United Way of Deschutes County website at www.deschutesunitedway.org
Businesses interested in holding a workplace campaign to help those in need are asked to contact Shannon Hinderberger, Campaign Director, at 389.6507.
