BEND, Ore. – A minimum of 49 victims had been identified by Friday in a rash of vandalism to businesses, vehicles, a school and a church -- possibly damaged by ball bearings found near some of the crime scenes west of the Deschutes River in northwest Bend, police reported.

The activity began on March 26, and by Friday Bend Police Lt. Ben Gregory said that eight businesses and 41 vehicles had received damage to windows.

The damage estimate was $15,000, Gregory said, but reports were continuing to be made and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 541.322.7976 or the non-emergency County dispatch number of 541.693.6911.
