According to Bend Police Sgt. Chris Carney, Lyell William Cox, 51, a resident of Fox Hollow Apartments at 2600 NE Forum Drive and apparently associated in some way with the manager of the building, was taken into custody about 11:30 p.m., April 11.
Police investigators said the victim, 29-year old Martin Villa Serrano, was trespassing in the laundry room when he was allegedly confronted by Cox and beaten with a baseball bat. Serrano was transported by private vehicle to St. Charles Medical Center with what Carney described as serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Cox was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail and faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence and menacing, Carney said. Bail was set at $110,000.
