by Cheryl McDermott

BEND, Ore. – Not displaying a license plate on the front of his pickup led to the arrest of a Bend man Tuesday evening after police found psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, and four firearms during a traffic stop on Highway 126 west of Prineville, Oregon, police reported.

Ryan Sherbourne, 25, of Bend, was stopped for the infraction by Oregon State Police (OSP) Trooper Keith Taylor while traveling near milepost 16 of Highway 126 about 6 p.m., May 13, a news release stated.

Psilocybin (“psychedelic”) mushrooms, a small amount of marijuana, two .45 caliber handguns, a shotgun with a mounted tactical light, and a .22 caliber rifle with a folding stock were found during a search of Sherbourne’s vehicle, OSP said.

Sherbourne was taken into custody and lodged in the Crook County Jail where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, troopers said.

Trooper Taylor was assisted on scene by Crook County Sheriff’s deputies and the Prineville Police K-9 drug detection unit, OSP reported.
