Redmond Police officers responding to the “suspicious subject” report near SW Indian Avenue near SW 30th Street about 2 a.m., May 15, found several cars had been broken into, Detective Lt. Al LaChance stated in a news release.
Johnny Ray Phillips, Jr., 18, was contacted in the area and taken into custody, as was 21-year old Casey Ceranzanu. Both men were lodged in the Deschutes County Jail, the lieutenant reported.
The investigation led detectives to other possibly related crimes in nearby Bend, Oregon. Redmond and Bend Police Departments worked together and obtained a search warrant at a residence on NE Lynda Lane occupied by Johnny Ray Phillips, Sr., 47, the father of one of the suspects in custody. Phillips, Sr. was arrested and jailed for being a felon in possession of firearms, Lt. LaChance said.
“This investigation is ongoing and more charges involving property crimes are pending,” LaChance said.
