“Larry Huhn brings the type of leadership the Fire Department needs at this time,” said newly King. “He’s the ideal candidate to continue the tradition of excellence in that organization.”
Huhn joined the department in 1983 as an Engineer/Firefighter. He moved up the ranks with promotions to Captain, Battalion Chief and Deputy Chief.
“I am thrilled to be offered the opportunity to be Bend’s sixth Fire Chief; this is a tremendous honor for me,” said Huhn. “I look forward to continuing Chief Langston’s good work and moving the department forward in the coming years.”
The Bend Fire Department has approximately 90 employees, covers more than 164 square miles for fire protection and 1450 square miles for ambulance operations.
