Bend man injured in Jet-Ski explosion at Wickiup Reservoir
by Bend Weekly News Sources
BEND, Ore. – A 23-year old Bend man received moderate injuries and was flown to the hospital by helicopter after his Jet-Ski exploded Sunday afternoon at Wickiup Reservoir, deputies reported.
According to a news release prepared by Deschutes County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bryan Husband, John Randall’s Arctic Cat PWC (personal water craft) had open wires inside the engine compartment which crossed and sparked, igniting gas that had leaked out of the tank and causing an explosion.
Randall, 23, was assisted on scene about 5:30 p.m. near the Wickiup Dam Boat Launch by La Pine Fire paramedics before he was transported to the hospital by an Air Link helicopter, the news release stated.
No other injuries were reported.
