According to a news release issued by the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year old Christopher D. Ricketts of 1433 Derby in Klamath Falls was a suspect in the Feb. 19th shooting of a woman who is now recovering at home from a gunshot wound to her elbow. Police said the shot came through her bedroom window.
Ricketts was arrested just before noon at St. Charles Medical Center (SCMC) in Bend, and was charged with two counts of attempted murder and first-degree assault. Bail is listed at $500,000, deputies said.
He was being pursued by Tulelake Police, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers on what deputies described as an unrelated matter when he crashed the vehicle he was driving.
Ricketts was initially admitted to Sky Lakes Medical Center then transferred to SCMC with reportedly serious injuries, the news release stated.
An arrest warrant was issued after an investigation, witness statements and physical evidence led police to him. An earlier search of a mini-van parked at his residence in Klamath Falls turned up a firearm which is being processed at the Oregon Police Crime Lab. Ricketts was placed under arrest upon his release from the hospital, deputies reported.
