City of Bend to receive $1-million gift from resident’s estate
by Bend Weekly News Sources

BEND, Ore. -- A long-time Bend resident passed away in January and representatives from the estate say the Bend Fire and Police Departments were willed approximately $1-million.

Bend Police and Fire Departments were bequeathed about $1-million.

Over the years, the resident had made several donations to both the Police and Fire Departments.

According to representatives from the estate, the funds are to be split equally between the Police and Fire Departments and used for “enhancements.”

The estate is expected to be in probate for approximately four to six months, and representatives from the estate ask that the resident’s name not be released until that process is finished.

The City is researching how best to receive the funds, and the Police and Fire Departments are exploring options to maximize the benefits of this generous gift.
