A Bend motorcyclist was injured Monday afternoon when he ran a red light and crashed into a car in northeast Bend, said police.
Bend Police officers and fire paramedics rushed to the intersection of NE Third Street and Revere Avenue in response to a report of an injury motor vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist, said Sgt. Ron Taylor.
They found Richard S. Samuels, 40, lying in the middle of the intersection near his crashed motorcycle.He was transported by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, and was reported to be in critical condition Tuesday night.
Witnesses interviewed at the scene told police that Samuels was riding his 2002 Honda CBR motorcycle north on NE Third Street and ran a red light, colliding with a 2005 Pontiac car driven by 51-year old Steven B. Huddleston of Bend.Huddleston legally entered the intersection, said the sergeant, and was traveling west on NE Revere Avenue when the accident occurred.He was uninjured.
Traffic was diverted to alternate streets for about 20 minutes during the accident cleanup, said the sergeant, adding that the accident investigation is ongoing.
