Good news, another $200,000 Powerball Match 5 ticket was sold in Oregon over the weekend. Even better news is that whoever bought that ticket, which was sold in Bend, also added the Power Play multiplier option that made their prize worth $1 million!
The Power Play multiplier option gives players a chance to multiply any cash prize, other than the jackpot, two to five times by adding an extra $1 per set of numbers played. The Power Play multiplier number is selected each Wednesday and Saturday during the Powerball drawing. The Power Play multiplier drawn for the Saturday, January 20, 2007 drawing was ‘5.’
Winning numbers for the Saturday, January 20 drawing were 1-5-26-32-38 and the power ball number was 30.
We won’t know where the ticket was purchased until the winner (or winners) validate the ticket in Salem. “We do not release the location for security reasons. As soon as the ticket is validated, we will release the name of the Lottery retailer who sold the ticket,” said Chuck Baumann with the Oregon Lottery Public Affairs office.
Three Oregon Powerball players each had $200,000 winning tickets for the Wednesday, January 16, 2007 drawing. The $200,000 Match 5 prize is won when players match all five white balls drawn and not the red power ball. The three winning $200,000 tickets were sold in Portland, Tualatin, and Lebanon. None of those tickets included the Power Play multiplier option.
The current run of 16 Powerball drawings without a winner began on Dec. 2, 2006. The Wednesday, January 24, 2007 drawing for an estimated $240 million will be the seventh largest in Powerball history.
Powerball drawings take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 7:59 p.m. Powerball tickets can be purchased until 5:59 p.m. on drawing days.
In October 2005, the Oregon Lottery sold the second largest Powerball jackpot ever, $340 million, in Jacksonville. This jackpot also ranks as the third largest in the world. The number one Powerball jackpot of all-time, $365 million, was sold in Nebraska in February 2006, and is also the world’s largest jackpot ever won.
Since the Oregon Lottery® began selling tickets in April 1985, it has earned over $5 billion for public education, economic development, state parks, and watershed enhancements and salmon habitat restoration. Drawing results and how-to-play information can be found at www.oregonlottery.org.
