Unleash your love at the Humane Society of Central Oregon
by Bend Weekly News Sources

The “Unleash Your Love at the Humane Society of Central Oregon” open house will be held Saturday, February 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The shelter is located at 61170 SE 27th Street.

Join the festivities at the celebration of unconditional love given by animals. Visit with the animals and enjoy delectable refreshments for people, with goodies available for pets.  Adoption fees have been reduced through Valentines Day.

The shelter’s new “Companion Care-a-Van,” made possible by a generous donation from Hertz, will be on display at Saturday’s open house.

See the Humane Society’s new “Companion Care-a-Van,” and meet the animals on the van and hear their stories at 11:00 a.m.  Thanks to the generous donation of Hertz, the shelter animals will have a safe and comfortable van to be transported in.

At 11:00 a.m., meet “Smokey,” the dog that was dragged behind a car in Portland.  Smokey will tell about his wonderful new life in Bend.  “Kaz”, the Old English Sheepdog that was stolen and returned, will talk about her adventures and her new life as “Cassiopia”.  “Sampson,” one of the dogs rescued from Hurricane Katrina, will show the resiliency and love dogs have. “Maty”, the tri-pawed Frisbee dog will catch a few throws to demonstrate her abilities.  Meet other dogs, ferrets, cats and birds depicted on the van.

Most of the photos on the van are of shelter animals.  If you adopted a cat or dog at the Humane Society of Central Oregon at the end of October, come see if your companion is on the new van!

Have a heart and adopt the love of your life at the Humane Society of Central Oregon.  Dog adoptions are reduced from $65 to $40 and cat adoptions from $50 to $35.  Adoptions include a complete care package of spay or neuter surgery, first vaccination, health exam, microchip, collar, ID tag and leash or carrying box, pet food and one month of free Pet Health Insurance.

The shelter is open M-F from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..  It is located at 61170 SE 27th Street -- just a half mile south of Reed Market Road.  For more information call 382-3537 or visit www.hsco.org.
