The shelter’s new “Companion Care-a-Van,” made possible by a generous donation from Hertz, will be on display at Saturday’s open house.
At 11:00 a.m., meet “Smokey,” the dog that was dragged behind a car in Portland. Smokey will tell about his wonderful new life in Bend. “Kaz”, the Old English Sheepdog that was stolen and returned, will talk about her adventures and her new life as “Cassiopia”. “Sampson,” one of the dogs rescued from Hurricane Katrina, will show the resiliency and love dogs have. “Maty”, the tri-pawed Frisbee dog will catch a few throws to demonstrate her abilities. Meet other dogs, ferrets, cats and birds depicted on the van.
Most of the photos on the van are of shelter animals. If you adopted a cat or dog at the Humane Society of Central Oregon at the end of October, come see if your companion is on the new van!
