Since September 2006, detectives have been investigating the occurrences and watching the areas – primarily Sawyer Park in north Bend at 62999 O.B. Riley Road, but to a lesser degree in Pioneer and Drake Parks as well, Sgt. Paul Kansky said.
With evidence gathered from surveillance and witness statements, detectives aided by Bend Metro Parks and Recreation employees were able to identify Brett Morris Jackson as a suspect.
Jackson, 44, of Bend, was taken into custody February 28 and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail.He is charged with six counts of second-degree criminal mischief in connection with incidents at all three area parks, Kansky said.
“The Bend Police Department will continue to enforce a zero-tolerance policy regarding criminal mischief and/or any other crimes in local parks,” the sergeant said.Citizens can expect increased uniformed patrol and plainclothes detective surveillance in these areas during the ongoing investigation.
